Neil Young rolle og musikkaktuell i ny westernfilm som slippes på Netflix 23. mars
I mars og april kommer det to album fra den kanadiske legenden Neil Young. Først ut er «Paradox», det offisielle soundtracket til filmen med samme navn. Deretter kommer livealbumet «Roxy -Tonight`s The Night Live», som gis ut i forbindelse med Record Store Day.
Det er skuespiller Daryl Hannah som har skrevet og regissert filmen «Paradox», som i forrige uke hadde verdenspremiere under SXSW Film Festival. Young selv har ikke bare skrevet musikken til bildene, han har også en rolle i den poetiske western-fortellingen om en bande med cowboyer og lovløse. Soundtracket, «Paradox (Original Music From the Film)», inneholder ny musikk, og klassiske Young-låter, samt bidrag fra selveste Willie Nelson, som (i likhet med to av Nelsons sønner) også er å finne i selve filmen.
Filmen er å finne på Netflix fra 23. mars, og albumet «Paradox (Original Music From the Film)» er ute samme dag, tilgjengelig digitalt og på vinyl med følgende tracking list:

Albumet «Roxy – Tonight`s The Night Live» inneholder de mest ettertraktede Neil Young-opptakene fra opptredenene på Los Angeles-venuen mellom 20. og 22. september i 1973. De unike live-opptakene er av Youngs første offentlige opptreden med flere av låtene som senere skulle stå som grunnpilarer i hans karriere. Studioalbumet «Tonight`s The Night» (1975) stod på Rolling Stone – liste over de 500 beste albumene gjennom tidene, og ble verden over rost for sin ærlighet og råskap. Det samme kan sies for «Roxy -Tonight`s The Night Live», som 21.april først er tilgjengelig eksklusivt i forbindelse med Record Store Day. Påfølgende uke vil albumet være tilgjengelig både digitalt, på CD og på vinyl.
Neil Young sier dette om de legendariske liveinnspillingene:
«In 1973, I drove my 1947 Buick Roadmaster, Black Queen, to LA from the North, accompanied by Ben Keith. Once we made it to Hollywood, we met up with Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina. Nils Lofgren joined us and we drove to Studio Instrument Rentals on Santa Monica Blvd. David Briggs, producer, and Johnny Talbot, equipment manager, met us there. They had blasted a hole in the wall to connect the green board which we had set up (an old tube board I had purchased that had been used recording many historic sessions from the Beach Boys – Pet Sounds to Monterey Pop Festival, among many others) next to the rehearsal hall. Our 16-track analog tape machine was set up next to the board. We had finished recording TTN and decided to celebrate with a gig at a new club opening on the Sunset Strip, the ROXY. We went there and recorded for a few nights, opening the ROXY. We really knew the Tonight`s the Night songs so we just played them again, the album, top to bottom, two sets a night for a few days. We had a great time. ROXY -Tonight`s the Night Live is the live recording we made. There is a little Super 8 footage of us driving to the gig in the Black Queen one of those nights.»
