Nok en trist dag i rockens historien. Malcolm Young er død kun 64 år gammel
Det er med stor sorg at vi i dag har mistet enda en gigant i rockens tjeneste. AD/DC har for kort tid siden bekreftet Malcolm Young bortgang ved å publisere følgende melding på deres offisielle facebookside:
«It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of Malcolm Young, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Malcolm had been suffering from Dementia for several years and passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside. Renowned for his musical prowess Malcolm was a songwriter, guitarist, performer, producer and visionary who inspired many. From the outset, he knew what he wanted to achieve and, along with his younger brother, took to the world stage giving their all at every show. Nothing less would do for their fans».
«Malcolm is survived by his loving wife O’Linda, children Cara and Ross, son-in-law Josh, three grandchildren, sister and brother».
«While thanking all for their overwhelming support and heartfelt condolences, the family ask that you respect their privacy during this time of heartbreak and grief. For those wishing to send messages to the family please visit the Sydney Morning Herald Malcolm Young Memorial website which will be available next week. The family have asked instead of flowers to send donations to The Salvation Army».
Det er MYE man kan skrive og fremheve om den unike betydningsfulle AC/DC gitarist og låtskriver Malcolm Young. Akkurat nå er det mest tid for ettertanke og rett og slett fordøye den triste meldingen. La AC/DC musikken ha høy rotasjon i dag folkens.
Har lyst til bl.a. å trekke frem AC/DC låta «It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)» som jeg synes representerer Malcolm Young og resten av de grunnleggende bandmedlemmene på en fantastisk måte. Låta ble skrevet av nettopp Malcolm Young, avdøde vokalist Bon Scott og Angus Young i 1975, i den unge og meget friske og enerigiske AC/DC -perioden. Videoklippet nedenfor er fra 1976 og er emosjonelt.
Her får vi bandets grunnleggende medlemmer med fantastiske vokalist Bon Scott som dessverre døde kun 33 år gammel i 1980, Malcolm Young på rhythme gitar som måtte gi seg i 2014 p.g.a. sykdom og som i dag er død, Mark Evens på bass som måtte forlate bandet i 1977 etter uoverensstemmelser med Angus, Phil Rudd på trommer som måtte forlate bandet i 2015 og nå eneste gjenværende AC/DC medlem Angus Young på gitar….i storform.
Hør bl.a. det intense gitarsamspillet mellom brødrene Malcolm og Angus…helt rått!!
Man blir både glad og emosjonell av å se dette klippet. Videoklippet med vokalist Bon Scott på sitt beste som fremfører det som ble selve signaturlåta hans, og som Brian Johnson av respekt aldri senere fremførte live.
